2016 Recap

This is always one of my favorite blog posts for the year, and I always start in January and recap what we did each month during the year.  When I just pulled up the blog to do this year's recap, I realized I didn't blog at all in January and February, ha!  January and February were spent campaigning.  Literally, that's all we did!  I ran for District Court Judge in my county, and every weekend was spent going door to door campaigning, and most nights during the week, I was speaking at or attending various events, meeting people and campaigning more.  It was the hardest thing I've ever done and I loved all of it.  Mark it down, it won't be my last campaign.  I WILL run for another position, and one day I WILL be a judge.

So, here's a little campaigning recap for ya:

Want to know how the election turned out?  You can read about it here.

In March, I updated about John running his first half marathon:

and about Fitz playing baseball for the first time:

In April, I only posted once (?!?) and it was all about me and Heather's trip to Atlanta:

After that, I didn't post again until August.  Y'all, I'm telling you, if you want your whole life to turn upside down, run for office!  After the campaign, we were just as busy as before because we moved into a new office the next month.  But when I did blog in August, I talked about stuff we did before that, ha!

In May, we got a pool!

In June, we put it to good use by throwing Fitz's 5th birthday party at the pool:

In August, we finally got to go to the beach!

In September, we got a new family member, Ms. Annie:

October always means PUMPKINS!

and Halloween, of course:

November meant time for our yearly cleft appointment:

We took a little trip to the North Pole in December:

And had a very Merry Christmas!

Want to re-visit recaps from years past?

2016 was an awesome, learning, blessed year for our family.  We are so thankful for the lessons we learned, and for God's plan for our lives.  I know 2017 will be great, and I'm already thanking God for his plans for it!

I will try to do better about blogging, too, because I love to look back and remember all we've done!

Christmas 2016

We started out Christmas Eve by baking cookies for Santa.  So thankful for my cute little helper!

Later that day, Fitz wrote one more letter to Santa, while I held my breath seeing if he would come up with anything else new to ask for!
Ghostbusters Girl Movie, Bone for Annie, Batman vs. Superman

Fitz was in bed and asleep by 7:30, right after we left out his letter to Santa, chocolate milk and cookies!

We had wrapped all the gifts the night before, so all we had to do was set it up and go to bed!

We set up my phone and caught Santa in our living room!
John had to leave for work at 6:15 Christmas morning, so we had planned to wake Fitz up early so he could open his gifts before John left.  Well, the dog woke me up at 4:45 to go outside, and when we came back in, Fitz was standing in the living room, grinning from ear to ear!

He had so much fun opening his gifts and trying them all out!  We even had time for a quick family selfie by the tree!

One of the gifts I really wanted to get him was the new Nintendo Classic Mini Console, which sold out everywhere as soon as it hit the shelves.  I posted about it on FB last week and one of my sweet clients messaged me and said she had bought one for her husband and he didn't want it.  It was new in the box and I could buy it if I wanted it!!  Yes, please!

While John worked on Sunday, we had fun playing it all day!

Uncle Zac was happy to try out all the toys with Fitz that afternoon, ha!

I tried one out, too:

When John got home, we ate and then opened more gifts!

My living room was a disaster and I loved every minute of it!

But most of all, I love my people!

John is having so much fun teaching Fitz how to punch on this punching bag!

We have one more Christmas celebration in Mississippi this weekend and we are looking forward to it!  I hope you all had as much fun as we did.

Christmas Week Fun!

Wrapping up the most wonderful time of the year with a little snap filter fun...
We took a little mid-week vaca with my bestie and her husband down to Biloxi, too!

We played a little (and lost!), shopped, ate delicious food and had a blast!

We ran into the big guy and he said we were definitely on the NICE list!

John was really happy about posing for a selfie with me :)

Heather and I are in a buy-in group on FB and get tons of cute clothes from our online friend, Jennifer.  She saw us check-in at the Beau Rivage and mentioned that she and her daughter were coming to the Christmas show that night and we should meet up if we could.  We just happened to be near the theater when the show let out and we were all SO excited to run into Jennifer and her little diva daughter, Kensie!  We've been in the group for probably two years and finally met our friend in person!

When we got back Thursday night, we had dinner with my dad at a social club where the kids could write letters to Santa and talk to him before dinner.  The kids had a great time!

Fitz said all season that Santa could surprise him, but decided that night, three days before Christmas, that he wanted a transformer called Optimus Prime!

It was a fun-filled week leading up to the big day!
