Weekend Recap

Friday night we went out to dinner with Tootsie and Uncle Zac to celebrate their birthdays.  Sorry these pics are a little blurry, but look how much fun Fitz had with his Uncle Zac:

Fitz starts preschool soon and his teacher wants a family picture, so we snapped a quick one after dinner...Fitz was not happy about it.
Because, as he told me earlier on Friday:
He will have to get over it! Ha!
John had to work Saturday, so we went to see Aunt Heddy and play at the lake!
It was a GORGEOUS day!  We loved it!
Fitz loved the pirate flag, which inspired he and Destry to act like pirates all day!

Y'all know I'm a beach girl, but look at this view!  Perfection.
The breeze knocked Fitz out after a little swimming in the lake:
I hope Aunt Heddy had fun, too, because Fitz already wants to know when we are going back.
I hope you had a great weekend, too!

Going for it!

You may remember a post I did a while back called Immeasurably More.  (If you don't, click there and read it if you want.)  Well, the time has come to actually pursue that dream of mine.  I have recently announced that I will be running for District Court Judge of the county where I live!  I'm nervous, but also really excited about it.

Monday night we had our Republican Party meeting, and at that meeting, the current judge announced that she will not seek re-election in the upcoming election, which means her seat will be open, which is rare in politics.  She has served 3 six-year terms and is now eligible to retire.  Immediately after the meeting, I made a Facebook post announcing my decision to run for her seat.  As I said before, I've been praying about this for years, and even more in the past several months, and I believe God placed that desire in my heart for a reason.  And now I'm going for it!

Another attorney in town has announced that he will run for this position as well, and he is a Republican as well, so I know I have at least one other candidate running.  I'm sure as the time gets closer for us to "qualify" to run that even more people will seek election for this position.  The primary election is in March, so we only have a few months to get to work on my campaign!
Since I made my announcement, God has given me much encouragement in my decision.  I have had several people come up to me and congratulate me, and I feel like this is the best decision for me and my family.  I have no idea if I will win or not, but I'm going to try my best, and leave the rest up to God.  His will and His plan are what I want for my life!
I would love if you would pray for me about this new adventure!

Bozzley and Fitz started the weekend out with a little forced cuddling on the couch (and Bunny, too.).  How cute are they? They look close in size here but Bozzley actually weighs twice as much as Fitz!
This past weekend was tax-free shopping weekend in Alabama, so we had to join in the fun.  Fitz is going to preschool five days a week this year, so he needed a few more things to wear.  I don't like to send him in play clothes to school no matter what they recommend, ha!
He loves these mannequins at Old Navy.

Fitz chose only Super Hero related clothing...

But look at this CUTE shirt I found for him:
Saturday afternoon we went to a gender reveal party for one of my sweet friends, Amanda.  She and her husband have been trying to have a baby since before John and I were trying for Fitz.  Bless her heart, she has had several miscarriages without any real reason for it.  However, last year, they adopted a sweet little girl the same age as Fitz, and a tiny newborn baby (who is now a year old), and wham, all of the sudden, they are pregnant!!  God planned it perfectly because she is now having a sweet boy to add to the family!  Prayers answered all around.
My friend Elaine who I grew up with, and Amanda, are best friends from law school (small world), so I got to see her, too.  From her posts on FB, I figured that Elaine's son, Noah, and Fitz would get along great, and I was totally right.  They are a year apart in age, and hit it off right from the start.

Fitz and I both wore our blue to cast our vote for a BOY and we were right!
Did you do anything fun this weekend?

4 year checkup

Last week we had Fitz's 4 year well-check!  He weighs 38 lbs and is 40 inches tall.  He has gained 6 lbs and 3 inches since last year!  He is in the 50th percentile for weight and the 30th percentile for height.  The doctor said he's growing exactly like he should be!
On the way there, he told me to look at a cloud shaped like a bunny, and he was right!  Do you see it?
Our pediatrician was very impressed with his language, and believe me, he held nothing back.  It went kinda like this:
Dr. R: "Fitz, tell me 2 healthy drinks."
Fitz:  "Coke and Tea!"
Me: cringe
Fitz: "But I drink coffee with my breakfast."
Me: cringe
Dr. R: "What about some healthy foods?"
Fitz: "Chicken nuggets, chicken, pizza and nachos."
Dr. R: "Does he drink milk, Mom?"
Me: (cringing) "He loves yogurt..."
Dr. R: "Fitz, what kind of fruit do you like?"
Fitz: "Apples!"
Me: relaxing a little
She had to check him out from head to toe, and he was NOT happy when she peeked into his underwear.  He told her NO and to STOP THAT, and "I don't like that!"  I was glad that he knew to tell her that he didn't like it!
Before we left, he had to get FOUR shots.  He had no clue they were coming and he was NOT happy about it.  Poor little guy, the next morning, he said, "Mama, I can still feel that shot in my leg." It was swollen pretty big and red hot.  The good news is, those were his kindergarten shots, so we don't have to do that again for quite a while!
I was glad to get that visit over with, ha!

Mother-Son Beach Trip!

This past weekend, my best friend and I took our boys on a little beach trip...the funny thing is, our boys are 11 years apart in age, although you'd never know it from how they act, ha!
We went down Friday morning, stopped for lunch, got supplies at Walmart, and stayed out on the beach until almost dark.  The first thing Fitz did was start writing his name in the sand!  See the "Fi"?

I thought this pic of our boys was so cute!
Fitz was hilarious!  He wanted to do everything Fletcher did! See their gatorades?
He had to sit just like Fletcher, too.
I didn't take a ton of pictures, but I did try for a selfie that didn't turn out too well.

We made a little sand art, too.
Our selfies always turn out cute! (ha ha)

Can we talk about how midget-like I am next to Fletcher?? He is FIFTEEN, and nearly a foot taller than me!
This words for how cute he is to me!  Love him.
We had a great time with our boys and each other!

Growing up, we lived in a subdivision pretty similar to the one we live in now.  It was mostly families about the same age as my parents, with children near the same age as me and my brother (shout out to Kelli, Cory, Elaine and George who all lived closest to me!).  Every night during the summer months, we played outside.  We went from one house to the next and played on the trampoline, rode our bikes, played McDonald's at Elaine's house, or just ran up and down the street until it was time to go home.  I thought that's how everyone grew up.
I'm so happy to say we live in that kind of neighborhood now.  Most all the families are close to our age (I think John and I are the oldest!) and most have children around the same age.  Several nights a week, me and two other moms (shout out to Jessica and Sandra!) sit outside on the porch or the back patio and watch our kids play.  I love it.
One night they may be doing cartwheels (or trying anyway)...

Another night they may play dress-up...

Whatever they are doing, the moms and I enjoy the visiting, and the view:

We sweat a lot, too, even just watching the kids.  It has been so HOT lately!  We finally broke out some water guns and hoses the other night...

And water balloons, too:

I love that Fitz is having the same sort of childhood that I had (in some ways anyway, although inside he's asking for my phone to watch videos on it, which would have obviously been a foreign concept to me in the 80's!)!  We prayed and prayed for the right time to buy a new house and move to a new area, and God answered our prayers in a mighty way!
