Sugar Detox - Results

I was going to title this post "9 lbs, 8.5 inches," but I didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea about the subject matter.

Yes, you read it correctly.  In 14 days of doing the sugar detox, I lost 8.5 inches from my stomach and thighs!! Only and inch from each thigh, and the rest was from my stomach!!
I couldn't find an exact picture of 9 lbs of fat, but this is pretty close.  I lost 9 lbs in 14 days and I was NOT hungry!!

I got a bit discouraged last week because I lost 7 lbs in the first 5 days and then gained a pound back during the second week.  My friends in the FB group told me it was totally normal and to stick with it, and I'm so glad I did!  I haven't felt deprived with my eating at all, and plan to mostly stick with the restrictions because of how good I feel. And of the best parts? I did it without surgery, pills, shakes, water powders, or anything other than eating real food.  Just real food, that's all you need.

I didn't take before and after photos, but I can tell my face is slimmer, and that's always a plus!  I still have a long way to go.  One day last week, I was outside talking to a friend of mine and our neighbor and the neighbor mentioned her weight and how she was just dying to lose 8 more lbs.  After she said that, a pizza delivery person brought her family pizza and I did drool just a little bit.  Anyway, she told us her weight and I realized that I weigh nearly 100 lbs more than her.  100 lbs.  Even when I lost 100 lbs several years ago, I didn't weigh what she weighs now (and wants to lose 8 freaking lbs, bless her heart) (and did I mention she had a BABY? TWO months ago?).  I will probably never weigh what she weighs but it was a big wake up call to realize how far I have to go.  I wish I had never let myself gain so much weight back, but I did and all I can do is work on it now.

The sugar detox was a fabulous starting point!  John is kinda over it, but I told him I plan to have a cheat meal every week (NOT A CHEAT DAY like we used to), and I do plan to eat a little cheese sometimes, and drink a Diet Coke sometimes, too, but for the most part, I plan to stick to the plan!  No sugar (other than coconut), no dairy (or rare dairy), very little artificial sweeteners, and lots of veggies (hello smoothies), protein, nuts and berries!

Check out Haus of Girls - Fit Family on FB if you're looking to join one of Marta's groups - I highly recommend it!

Fitz-isms

I know I've done one of these posts before, but that was prior to Fitz's speech really developing.  I don't think there is much, now, that our boy won't say.  He talks ALL the time, and I'm surprised that I used to be worried that he would never talk.  So, for your entertainment, a few Fitz-isms...

1.  Fitz LOVES playing at his Tootsie's house, and why wouldn't he? Uncle Zac and Tootsie pretty much do whatever Fitz wants, even going so far as to MAKE him a mud hole for his trucks.  So, first, these pics just show him being a BOY.

 2.  Fitz pretty much thinks anything Uncle Zac says is the gospel truth.  Zac told him that his penis is called his "hog," so that's what Fitz calls it.  It may not be as funny unless you hear him say it, but I've tried to get him to call it something else and he is not having it.  Uncle Zac said it's his hog, so by God that's what it is.
Our conversations often go like this:
Me:  Fitz, do you need to potty?
Fitz:  Nope, my hog's outta tee-tee right now!
Me:  Why don't we call it your pee-pee? Tallywacker? Penis?
Fitz:  Uh, no Mama! It's my HAWG!

When he was still potty training, and would use his little Cars potty, he would say, "Mama, my hawg won't fit in here!"  Hysterical.

3.  Fitz is very independent, so he likes to potty all by himself, and then call me when he's done if he needs any assistance.  He says, "Mama! I finnershed!"  Not finished, finnershed.

4.  He loves to ride his bicycle, which you know if you follow me on FB or IG, but what you may not know is that he calls it his motorcycle.  And he calls his handlebars "candlebars."

5.  He is pure boy and wants to do whatever his Daddy does.  He will "crank" his bicyle, er, motorcycle, and rev it up.  He will back it out like John backs his motorcycle out.  He copies every  move he makes and I love it.

One day, he decided he needed to work on Daddy's Jeep:

6.  He went thru a short "dern" phase.  He heard me jokingly say to my mom, "Well, dern Tootsie!" and he ran with it.  If I did something not ok, he would say, "Ugh Mama...you dern!"  We went out to eat at Outback one night and he said, "They don't have cheese dip and salsa? They dern!"  He has called the dogs dern, me dern, John dern.  You name it, they dern.

7.  He is OBSESSED with garbage trucks.  He has about 10 different ones between our house and Tootsie's house and he loves them all.  He has battery operated ones that actually empty garbage cans into the back.  He has tiny ones, and large ones.  He wants to watch "vidos on you phone" and chooses "garbage trucks" on YouTube.  If we see a real one on the road, we have to talk all about it.  He loves them.  He even cleaned one at Tootsie's house today.

8.  We've been reading The Cat in the Hat for a couple of weeks now.  If I miss even one word, he corrects me immediately!  He loves his books and I love that!

I guess that's enough for now.  I'm sure I'll think of 10 more funnies as soon as I click to publish this post, but I'll save those for another day!

Art Show!

I love that our preschool has an Art Show every year so we can see all of the cute artwork they work on in class!  They set it all up in the gym at the church and it's so much fun to see it all!

Fitz won a medal for his "when I grow up" project...we are just glad he said policeman and not garbage man because seriously, he is OBSESSED with garbage trucks right now.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.  Just saying.
Ever since they celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday, we have read The Cat in the Hat over and over.  I'm not surprised at all that he said he won't eat green eggs and ham, ha!

No, not every child said God sends the rain, but I'm glad Fitz knows who does!
I thought this was so cute and creative!  I said, "Fitz did you make this?" He said, "No, Miss Brianna did!" Hahaha!
Earlier this year, they had "Dad's Day" at school and he and John made this ornament:
And he made his Mama a flower:
It's almost time to register him for his LAST year of preschool...crazy!!

County Fair Party!

One of Fitz's school friends had a fun birthday party this past weekend with a County Fair theme.  It was so cute!  They had all the typical fair games, scaled down for 3-4 year olds.  See?

Then we took a hay ride to see and feed goats and sheep!  Fitz was mostly impressed with the mud we rode through, and had to check those tires out when we got done!

It was a super cute party and the weather was perfect!
Happy Birthday, Abby!

Sugar Detox

I know, I know, I've told y'all about eleventy billion times that I am serious about losing weight this time, but THIS time, I'm serious.  For real.  I'm doing it.  I signed up for a 14 day sugar detox in an online FB group hosted by a fitness coach.  I've signed up for one of her challenges before and (SHOCKER) I didn't stick with it.  However, John is doing the detox with me and that makes it much easier to stick with the plan.

I started off by doing some good grocery shopping on Saturday since the detox started on Monday.

Did you know there is sugar in just about every flipping thing at the store?? Seriously, start reading ingredients, it's in all the things.  This detox is good for me because Marta (our coach) tells us WHY we shouldn't eat all the sugar and what all it can effect in our bodies.  So, it's not just no sugar.  It's no dairy, no wheat and no grains for 14 days.  We can have coconut sugar but no artificial sweeteners at all...which means my beloved Diet Cokes are out the door.  I'm ok with coffee, and I've been adding coconut sugar and Almond Milk to it, and it's really pretty good.

I also made these cinnamon/coconut sugar pecans last night and it feels like a sweet treat!

I'm writing this on Thursday so I'm only 4 days in, but I've lost FOUR pounds already!! I weighed and took measurements Sunday, because we are supposed to lose inches, too. Marta posted her before and after detox pics and all of her puffiness was GONE.  I'm doing it.  I will update y'all once I'm done!!

Just had to share this:

3-5

I have been SO busy at work the past few days (ok over a week since my last post!), that I have not had one single chance to sit down and type a blog post!  Yes, I do it at work most of the time because it's easier to type on the actual keyboard than my iPad at home.  Anyway! Last week was my birthday. 35 years old.  WHY does that sound so much older than 34?!? I mean, I remember when my MOM was 35.  I was 15 years old. It doesn't feel like that was 20 years ago, but there you have it.  I love my birthday.  I don't get sad about getting older, but it just seems like a big number this time.

My dear sweet husband surprised me with a Tiffany & Co. necklace I eyed when we were in NYC!  I love it! Look at it:
He also surprised me with a Junior's Famous and fabulous cheesecake!!

He had to work late on my birthday so Heddy came and ate some with me!
And sat in the floor and played trucks with Fitz because, well, he told her to.  BEST friend.

I see those funny e-cards on Facebook joking about how people don't talk to you all year but because FB told them, they wish you a happy birthday...but I gotta say, it makes you feel pretty dang special when everyone tells you happy birthday all day long!  On my actual birthday, my secretary/friend Kristy and I went to lunch at a local place where we eat a lot.  Perk of FB and a small town birthday?  Just about every single person who walked through the door, looked around to speak to people they knew, saw me and wished me a happy birthday AGAIN.  And, one of our friends paid for our lunch!  A HAPPY birthday indeed!

March Madness?

Not really...there just hasn't been a lot going on around here!  How could we top the big NYC anniversary adventure??

So here's a random post for ya...

Fitz was at the office before school one morning and just had to "pick" me a flower...from the flowers John sent for our anniversary, ha!
I've used my child for a shameless plug for my fabulous mascara...twice now.

We got silly in the tub one night...
We enjoyed a hot and muggy day last week since a winter storm advisory was in effect for the following day:

Fitz had a blast at church last week because they had car races!
I went back to all blonde...and SEVERAL people (including my husband) have said they prefer this rather than the brown streaks:

Fitz was silly again, with Bozzley this time:

This weekend, I suggested (not for the first time) that we clean out some of Fitz's toys that he doesn't play with anymore, and take them to children who don't have toys.  He was shocked that there are kids that don't have toys.  He didn't fuss one bit, but helped me fill a garbage bag full of toys and talked about it all day.

Then I didn't even have to pose him for this picture on top of his toy box.

We celebrated our friend Parker's birthday Saturday and enjoyed the spring-like weather!

I'll try to find something more interesting to post about very soon, but that should hold you until then, ha! Happy Monday!
