Warning:  this post is full of random information, in no particular order.

1.  The pic above shows how Fitz fell asleep last night, face down on Daddy's lap.

2.  Fitz and I had dinner with my friend Jenny last night, and he was so good the whole time, sitting in the high chair like a big boy!

3.  I love to watch silly shows such as:  Toddlers and Tiaras, Sister Wives, Real World/Road Rules Challenge, Big Rich Texas, Dance Moms, and Teen Mom 2.  I know I may have to change that when Fitz gets a little bigger, but I love them.

4.  I hate the words "birth defect" when referring to cleft lip and palate.  It makes me feel like they are saying Fitz is defective, and he's most certainly not defective.  I hate the commercials that have appeared almost non-stop since we found out about the cleft, which ask if you've taken anti-depressants which caused the cleft.  I know this is me being overly sensitive, but I think there could be a better description than calling it a "defect".

5.  Several friends and acquaintances lately have made statements about either not being believers or statements about the fact that they do not pray.  This breaks my heart for them.  I struggle with how to describe the joy, peace and comfort that I receive from my relationship with Christ without putting them off.  I pray God will put people in their lives to share His love with them, and that when I have the opportunity to share, God will give me the words.

6.  I love mascara.   When new ones come out, I have to try them.  I have old Clinique bags full of drug store mascaras.

7.  I love all things Amish.  I love to read fiction novels about Amish families, watch Amish movies, etc.  I'm fascinated at the way they choose to live.

8.  I love how it feels when my e-mail inbox is empty and my bill organizer is empty and all the bills are paid.  It makes me feel very accomplished.

9.  I think Fitz is the most amazing baby in the whole world.

10.  I feel blessed beyond measure, and am so thankful to God for providing each and every blessing.

I know this list was random, but I hope you liked learning more about me anyway, ha!  Have a great weekend!

Big Boy Bath!

We've been using a baby bathtub for Fitz's bath, which we sit on the bathroom counter between the two sinks.  It has a frog-shaped bath sponge in it for Fitz to lay on while we bathe him.

A few weeks ago, I tried to sit him up in that bathtub and use the sponge for support behind him and he was NOT having it.

Last weekend, I went shopping, intending to get a bath seat so we could try to bathe him in the regular bathtub.  Instead, I found this inflatable rubber ducky tub, which goes in the bathtub, to help transition to the big tub.

We tried it last night, and Fitz LOVED it!

He had no trouble at all sitting in the ducky, and loved the water all around him!

Santa put some bath toys in Fitz's stocking, so I threw a couple of those in, and he thought it was so much fun that he cried when we took him out of the tub!

He likes being wrapped in his towel after his bath, so he didn't cry for long, but I was so glad he loved his new bathtub!  And as a bonus, it looks really cute to see that huge rubber ducky in the tub.

Footloose and Fancie-free

One thing I love about living and practicing law in a small town, is that most offices are closed on Wednesday afternoons.

A lot of times, I still have to work or have court, but sometimes, I just get to play with my sweet Fitz.

Today was one of those days!

You know those stacking toys we all had when we were babies?

This is the modern version we got for Fitz from Pottery Barn Kids.

I got it out for the first time today and he loves that chicken on you can see in the video!

He had a great time today playing with his feet, too:

That was just for you, Kristy!

Several people have asked what our Shih-tzu, Fancie, thinks about Fitz.

Today, I captured a video which pretty much sums up their current relationship:

Fitz wants to play with her, and pull her hair, and she wants to check him out but is wary of getting her hair pulled in the process, ha!

I hope they will be buddies in the future, but they are pretty funny with each other now!

I realize these videos are not really exciting, but most of you only get to see Fitz in pictures, and he's just so darn cute that I can't help but video him!

Our Week, Bonus: Video!

Santa brought this singing, light-up mirror, and now that Fitz knows
he can sit in front of it by himself, he loves it!

This week:

Seemed really long, but I'm not sure why.  I meant to blog more, but there really wasn't much going on.

Fitz started eating solids three times a day, instead of just two.

He practiced sitting up at his babysitter's house this week, and at home, too!  (And he likes it!)

I went to two classes at the gym:  Intervals on Tuesday and Kickboxing on Thursday.  Both tough, but Kickboxing was fun, too.  And it's a stress reliever to kick and punch for an hour!

Daddy got to drive the fire engine for the first time, and he liked it!

Fitz got part 2 of his flu shot, and barely whimpered.  I wish I had my camera out so you could have seen him grinning at the nurse...until she stuck the needle in.  Then he scrunched up his eyebrows at her, as if he was saying, "Why would you do that when I'm showing you these dimples?"

I asked the nurse to weigh him while we were there and he weighs 18 lbs!  That means he's gained 2 lbs since his 6 month check-up on December 6, and he's now doubled his birth weight.

I tried out my video camera for the first time.  Warning:  this video is short, and not much happens in it, but you get to see Fitz and his sweet smile, so what more could you ask for?

I wish I could catch him giggling, but he only does it when you're playing with him right in his face, and I'm not ready to be on video, ha!

The next video will be better, I promise.  And, I may get brave one day and do a "vlog" day.

Relaxing Weekend, Pondering 2012

Daddy had to work this weekend, but Fitz and I had a very relaxing weekend.

We napped, played, ate, went for a walk, and went to worship this morning.

Fitz and Daddy played with Fancie this afternoon.  She doesn't seem to be enjoying it as much as Fitz did, ha!

I was thinking this morning about the fact that it is 2012.  Where did the time go?  Where are the flying cars?  I mean, it is 2012!

This year:

I'll turn 32 years old...that sounds old to me.

marks 10 years since I graduated from college(!) and started law school.

my baby will turn 1 year old.

I'll celebrate 4 years of marriage to an awesome man I never thought I would find.

Fancie will be 9 years old.

marks 14 years since I graduated from high school...that makes me feel really old.

Fitz will have surgery to correct his cleft palate.

I have no idea what else 2012 will bring, but I do know that God has great plans for me and our family, and I look forward to seeing what He has in store for us.  I think it will be a GREAT year...even if we don't start driving in the sky.

Dear Fitz (Seven Months)

Dear Fitz:

You are seven months old!  This might be my favorite age so far, because you are so much fun!  You're still such a happy baby, almost always smiling and showing off those dimples.  I take you shopping and you just grin at everyone you see!

At your six month appointment, you weighed 16 lbs, 5 oz, and were 26 1/2 inches long, which means you've almost doubled your birth weight, and have grown seven inches since birth!  That is so hard to believe, although it shouldn't be, because you love to eat, ha!

You're rolling over now!  Yay!  You are still not very interested in laying on your stomach and doing tummy time because it just about always makes you spit up (I wouldn't like it either!), so I'm not sure if you'll ever crawl, or if you'll just go straight to walking.  You will sit up by yourself, but only for a few minutes at a time before you fall to the side.  It won't be long before you're sitting up completely independently.

Some moms say they are sad to see their babies growing up and becoming independent, but I love to see how much you are growing and changing.  You learn new things every day and it is so much fun to watch you discover all you can do!

You've done quite a bit for just a seven month old baby:  stayed in a hotel twice, traveled out of state three times, attended two weddings and rehearsal dinners, had play dates, had major surgery, helped open Christmas gifts at several different homes, shopped at tons of stores, and had dinner in many restaurants.  You adapt very well to wherever we take you, and I'm so thankful that you are an easygoing baby.

Daddy and I love you very much, and can't wait to see what you learn to do this month!

Red Solo Cup

Meet Fitz's new favorite toy.

He got all sorts of fun toys for Christmas, but apparently, Santa could have saved his time and effort, and just brought him one of these cups.

On Saturday, we traveled to the bustling metropolis of Ackerman, Mississippi for our Christmas with my mom's side of the family.

While we were there, mom decided to show everyone how Fitz would take her cup if she gave it to him since he usually reaches for whatever we may be drinking.

Little did we know, that it would be his most favorite thing ever.  EVER.

There was a little ice in the bottom of the cup, so he kept shaking it to hear it, and then would put it up to his mouth.  I decided to give him his rattle ball instead so we could get the cup away and he pitched a FIT.

He has never cried when I took something from him before!  He was so mad about that cup!

It was highly entertaining for the family, and discovered a new toy, ha!

We didn't just play with cups, we had a great time visiting our family, and Fitz spent some time with his great-grandmama.

Thank you to my cousin Glenn and his fabulous wife, Brianne for having our whole crazy crew over to your house for Christmas!
